Police: No Link Between Suspicious Letters In Darien, Conn.
DARIEN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- Two letters containing powdery substances and possibly demanding money were sent to separate homes in Darien a day apart from each other, police said. But investigators are saying there seems to be no connection between the two.
The powder found inside the envelopes was apparently harmless, said police Detective Mark Cappelli.
"The FBI just had them decontaminate by washing themselves, their hands and their laundry," Cappelli told CBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schniedau. "It wasn't an extensive decontamination process."

The recipients of the two letters live near Tokeneke Elementary School, but on separate streets. The FBI is still investigating both incidents.
"First letter -- I wouldn't call it a threat, but it was kind of a demand for money, although it was very vague," Cappelli said. "The second letter, I believe that there was a demand for money, but even more vague than the first."
