HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Long Island man has been arrested on charges he falsely reported two bomb threats to the Nassau County District Court House, police announced Monday.
The court house in Hempstead was briefly evacuated Monday morning after 911 received telephone calls that a bomb was going to go off, police said. No threat was found following a search of the building.
Police said 25-year-old Melbis Hernandez, of Hempstead, was arrested after an investigation. Police said one of the telephone calls came from a nearby public telephone booth.
Hernandez was to be arraigned later Tuesday. It wasn't clear if he had a lawyer.
