Police: Nanuet Hit-And-Run Suspect Tried To Flee Via Hoboken Bound Train
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Police from Rockland County arrested a Nanuet man aboard a Hoboken bound train on Saturday.
Ryan Barron, 19, was allegedly driving a 1998 Ford through a parking lot at the Wald Pavillion in Nanuet when he hit a parked car and caused it to lurch forward and strike a pedestrian and another parked vehicle, according to police.
Barron then fled the scene and boarded a southbound train, police said. Authorities contacted NJ Transit officials who stopped the train at the Montvale, New Jersey train station and waited for police to arrive.
Barron was removed from the train without incident, and the odor of alcohol was detected on his breath, according to a police report. Results of a blood test are pending , but Barron has been charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving while intoxicated, third degree assault, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment. All of the charges that Barron is facing are misdemeanors.
The injured pedestrian was transported to Nyack Hospital where is being treated for injuries to his face and body.
