Police: N.J. Man Charged After Climbing John F. Kennedy Airport Fence
NEW YORK (AP) -- A New Jersey man has been arrested after police say he scaled a fence surrounding New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police say William Deene has been charged with criminal trespassing after an airport worker noticed him scaling a fence at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Spokesman Joe Pentangelo says the 22-year-old Perth Amboy, New Jersey man also set off a perimeter alarm in the fenced area separating the public from airport property.
He says the two fences are about a 1 1/2 feet apart on the airport's west side near the Van Wyck Expressway. No flights were interrupted by the incident.
It wasn't immediately known if Deene had an attorney. He was in custody and not available for comment
