Police: Man Stole Woman's Bag At Astoria Subway Stop, Tried To Use Debit Card

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday were trying to identify a suspect who allegedly stole a woman's bag from a subway station in Astoria, Queens and tried to use her debit card.

Around 6:05 p.m. Friday, the suspect allegedly stole the bag from a bench at the 31st Street-Astoria Boulevard N and Q train station, police said. The bag contained the woman's credit cards, debit card, and a MacBook Pro laptop, police said.

The man then allegedly tried to use the woman's debit card at a deli located at 2572 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. in Harlem, but could not retrieve any money, police said.

The suspect was described as a 35-year-old black male standing 6 feet tall. Police have released a surveillance video.
