Police: Man Rented Out Valley Stream, Elmont Homes He Didn't Own
VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Queens man is accused of renting out two Long Island homes that he didn't own.
Terrell Hill, of Jamaica, has been arrested on charges of grand larceny and burglary, police said.
Hill put an ad on Craigslist and rented a Valley Stream home to two women on Aug. 8, according to police. He collected a down payment of $1,600 and returned Wednesday to collect more money, cops said.
Police also allege he rented out another unoccupied residence in Elmont on Aug. 1. They say he collected $3,800 from a woman in that case.
Hill was arraigned Thursday in Nassau District Court. He was released on $40,000 bail.
He is due back in court Monday.
Hill's attorney, Richard Celestin, told Newsday he is confident his client will be exonerated.
