Police: Man Kills Girlfriend, Self In Long Island Home
NORTH AMITYVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man killed his girlfriend and then committed suicide this weekend, after the woman told the man they were breaking up, police said Sunday morning.
Suffolk County police First Precinct officers responded to 3 North Dr. in North Amityville Saturday night, after a 911 call of a man stabbing a woman. Upon arriving, officers found Virginia Vasquez, 32, and her boyfriend, and Stephen Guillaume, 35, dead in the doorway, police said.
Vasquez's 14-year-old daughter was cut on the hand when she tried to help her mother, police said. She was taken to an area hospital and will undergo surgery.
The woman's 4-year-old son was also home at the time, but was unharmed, police said.
Detectives found out Guillaume began stabbing Vasquez after she told him they would be breaking up, police said.
