Police: Man In Safari Hat Tries To Rob Brooklyn Bank, Makes Off Empty-Handed
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- He may have thought he needed some cash before going on safari, but police say a man who tried to rob a bank in Brooklyn wasn't very successful.
Police say a man wearing a safari hat walked in to the M&T Bank on Flatbush Avenue on July 26 and gave a teller a note demanding money.
Maybe it was his choice of wardrobe or his lack of conviction, but the teller simply ignored his demands and the suspect walked out empty-handed.
Police now need your help in finding the suspect. He's described as 55 to 60-years-old, tall and skinny.
Besides his fashionable hat, police say he was wearing a red sleeveless T-shirt, plaid shorts, dark shoes and was carrying a black bag at the time of the attempted bank robbery.
