When officers arrived, police said they found 46-year-old Gyltene "Julie" Rugova stabbed in the neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Rugova's 52-year-old husband -- Hasan "Sammy" Rugova stabbed her to death and then slashed their 14-year-old son in the arm when he tried to intervene, CBS 2's Kathryn Brown reported. Police said he then stabbed himself in the stomach.

Rugova's husband and their son, Ibrahim, were both taken to Lutheran Medical Center and were last listed in stable condition.

Hasan Rugova was charged Tuesday evening with second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Friends and neighbors said Rugova was getting ready to open a new pizza shop with her oldest son. On Tuesday afternoon, the grand opening flags and green Mylar balloons were still flying outside the new Sammy's Pizza Restaurant at 9102 Fourth Ave. in Brooklyn, but there will be no celebration.

"They were very excited," said building owner Peter Christakos. "They seemed like a happy family."

Ggikolmi said the pizzeria was going to be called Sammy's in honor of Rugova's husband.

"She was so happy for the pizza place she was going to open," neighbor Mimoza Ggikolmi told 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck. "She helped everybody here. Everybody loved her."

Neighbors said Rugova and her husband had lived together in the same apartment building for more than two decades.

"She's a very mother," Ggikolmi told Brown. "She help everybody, she love everybody – she working so hard."

Neighbors said Rugova was the superintendent of the building where they lived. Those who knew them said they were simply stunned.

"Disbelief – I can't believe it," said neighbor Eve Zubaidi.

There is no police record of domestic violence between the couple, though sources told CBS 2 they were arguing over alleged infidelity.
