Police Make Arrest In Attempted Whitestone Rape Stopped By Former Marine
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police say they have made an arrest in an attempted rape in Queens that a former Marine is credited with stopping.
Kenneth King, 41, was arrested Friday and charged with attempted rape and attempted sex abuse in the incident that allegedly took place Wednesday morning around 9 a.m.
Former Marine Brian Teichman, 31, saved the victim from the violent attack in the woods off the Cross Island Parkway in Whitestone. The incident happened outside his babysitter's house.
Police said the unidentified woman was attacked from behind, dragged across the street over a guard rail and into the brush.
Teichman's babysitter, Dawn Ottaviano said she started screaming and Teichman went to the rescue.
"He saw the man on top of the woman, and he frightened him," Ottaviano said of Teichman. "He was just going ballistic, he was just going ballistic — scared the hell outta the guy. He literally did."
"I feel like I did what anyone else would've done in that position," Teichman told CBS 2's Derricke Dennis. "I didn't think much, I just did it."
