Police Search For Would-Be Queens Rapist Scared Off By Former Marine
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Queens have released a sketch of a suspect wanted for an attempted sexual assault who was scared off by a good Samaritan -- a former Marine.
Police say the attacker is described as middle-aged and was dressed as a construction worker with salt and pepper hair and a goatee.
Police say he grabbed the woman as she was standing along the Cross-Island Parkway in Whitestone Wednesday morning.
The unidentified woman was attacked from behind, dragged across the street, over the guard rail and into the brush.
That's when ex-Marine Brian Teichman, who was across the street, heard the woman's screams. He shouted at the suspect who then took off through the woods.
I feel like I did what anyone else would've done in that position," Teichman told CBS 2's Derricke Dennis. " didn't think much, I just did it."
The woman's clothes were ripped and she was shaken up, but escaped a near sexual assault.
'I'm very happy she's okay, I'm glad everything worked out," Teichman said.
