Police: Long Island Park Vandalism Investigated As Hate Crime
KINGS PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Suffolk County Police are trying to find out who vandalized a park over the weekend.
A swastika, pentagram, upside down cross and other graffiti were spray painted on playground equipment at San Remo Community Park in Kings Park between 5 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Monday, police said.
The case is being investigated as a hate crime, police said.

"The town has had to come out and have their employees come out and do repairs and/or replace the items in the park. If they can't successfully cover them over or remove them with power-washing, then these parts will have to be replaced, which could take the part out of service for a little while," Suffolk County Police Sgt. James Brierton told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall.
Police said stop signs and a nearby driveway were also tagged by the vandal.
Police are offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
