Police: L.I. Photo Studio Owner Recorded Employees In Restroom

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island arrested the owner of a photography store Monday, on allegations that he was secretly recording his employees using the restroom.

A 24-year-old woman who worked for Foto y Video Alexander, at 1144 Suffolk Ave. in Brentwood, allegedly found images of herself using the bathroom on her boss' computer, police said. The images were captured without her knowledge.

Detectives came to the photo studio and found a remote recording device hidden in the bathroom, police said. Recordings of a 19-year-old woman who worked at the studio were also discovered, police said.

The owner of the business, William Iglesias, 39, of Brentwood, was arrested around 2 p.m. Monday and charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance.

He was to be held overnight at the Suffolk County police Third Precinct station, and was set to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the alleged restroom recordings continued Monday night. Anyone with information was asked to contact the Suffolk County police Third Squad at (631) 854-5352, or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at (800) 220-TIPS.
