Police: L.I. Bicyclist Killed In Hit-And-Run
TERRYVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island have arrested an alleged hit-and-run driver who they said struck and killed a man riding his bicycle.
It happened around 9:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Route 112 and Nesconset Highway in Terryville.
Suffolk County police said 51-year-old Bradford Packer was hit by a light-colored Hyundai sedan, which is believed to now have significant front-end damage.
On Friday afternoon, Suffolk police announced the arrest of Janice Montalvo, 54, of Centereach.
She was charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Investigators said Montalvo took off, heading westbound on Nesconset Highway.
Packer was taken to the hospital where he later died.
