Police Issue Reminder On NYE Road, Subway Stop Closures
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Whether you're trying to get to Times Square to see the ball drop or you're just trying to make your way elsewhere, officials have a reminder that some roads and subway stations have been closed.
The NYPD says the following streets will not reopen until after the ball drops. They closed Monday afternoon:
• Seventh Avenue, between 41st and 59th streets;
• Broadway, between 47th and 59th streets;
• 43rd, 44th, 45th, 46th and 47th streets, between Sixth and Eighth avenues.
• 42nd Street, between Sixth and Eighth avenues.
And depending on crowds:
• All crosstown streets between 37th and 41st streets, between Sixth and Eighth avenues;
• All crosstown streets between 49th to 59th streets, between Sixth and Eighth avenues;
• 48th Street, between Fifth and Ninth avenues.
Parking is also banned until 1 a.m. on the following streets:
• All crosstown streets from 33rd to 59th Street, between Sixth and Eighth avenues;
• The west side of Fifth Avenue, between 37th and 52nd streets;
• The west side of Sixth Avenue, between 34th to 59th streets;
• The east side of Sixth Avenue, between 37th and 52nd streets;
• The east side of Eighth Avenue, between 34th and 57th streets;
• 48th Street, between Fifth and Ninth avenues;
• 43rd Street, between Fifth and Eighth avenues;
• 42nd Street, between Fifth and Ninth avenues;
• 37th Street, between Fifth and Eighth avenues;
• 34th Street, between Fifth and Ninth avenues;
• 48th Street, between Fifth and Ninth avenues;
• 52nd Street, between Fifth and Eighth avenues;
• 58th Street, between Sixth and Eighth avenues;
• 59th Street, between Fifth Avenue and Columbus Circle.
Within the subway system, the N, R and W lines will skip the 49th Street stop in both directions, and the northbound 1 train will skip the 50th Street stop, until 12:15 a.m.
