Police Investigate 'Suspicious' Disappearance Of NJ Couple
PLAINFIELD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A 39-year-old New Jersey woman and her boyfriend vanished under mysterious circumstances, and now woman's desperate mother is asking for help finding her.
"If you're there and you can hear me, please, please Cassy, answer Mama please," Veronica Ramessar said while leaving her daughter a message.
Ramessar keeps calling her daughter's cell phone, but Evande Orna, who also goes by Cassy, doesn't answer the phone. For Ramessar, it's heartbreaking, reports CBS 2's Christine Sloan.
"Cassy we love you, please come back to us, we miss you so bad," Ramessar said. "Could you help me locate my daughter, please?"
Orna, who is from Plainfield, and her boyfriend, Troy Edwards, disappeared without a trace under what police said was a suspicious situation.
Police in Richmond, Virginia are investigating because the two were apparently headed to that state in a rented 2011 Nissan Altima, possibly with Virginia license plates XNH-9410.
Orna's mother said she's worried because her daughter usually calls her every day, but she hasn't heard from her in two weeks.
"Her last words were, 'Mommy, I love you a million times,'" Ramessar said. "Those were her last words."
Two cars with Virginia plates sit in the driveway at Orna's last known address. Ramessar said the Mercedes belongs to Edwards, who she said she barely knows.
"He never sit and talked to me – I don't even know his right name," she said. "All she told me was, 'Mommy, I love Troy so much, my soul and my heart are with Troy, I'll even die for him.'"
While police in Plainfield and Virginia didn't say why they were calling the disappearance suspicious, they asked for anyone with information to call them.
Orna's mother said her daughter and Edwards have known each other since they were teenagers.
