In one incident a woman told a homeowner in Montebello that she had to inspect her property line.
When she stepped outside, that's when her home was burglarized.
Ramapo police Detective Sgt. Brian Corbert says shortly after the diversion bandit struck again.
"In the same general area, a woman got a knock her door from another woman. She said that she was new to the neighborhood. She wanted to know the area code. This struck the woman as suspicious, at which point she called the Ramapo police," Corbet told WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams.
The suspect is a thin white female with dark hair. She had a knitted hat, red jacket, and colorful rainboots.
Police are looking for a possible link between these incidents and those on Long Island.
