Police: Far Rockaway Man Charged With Second Degree Murder In Monday Morning Shooting
ELMONT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Nassau County police have arrested a man they say was involved in a fatal shooting on Monday morning during an argument with two relatives over visitation with his 3-year-old son.
Police charged Wilfred Labossiere, 31, of 306 Beach 19th Street in Far Rockaway with second degree murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Nassau detectives said Labossiere got into an argument with the child's grandmother and another relative over visitation after dropping his son off at an Oakley Avenue home in Elmont.
According to police, Labossiere left the home but returned a short time later and continued to argue with the woman, 51, and relative Christopher Mullings.
Labossiere allegedly pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots, striking both relatives, police said.
Mullings was pronounced dead at the scene. Labossiere drove the grandmother to the hospital where she was listed in critical but stable condition, according to police.
Labossiere fled the hospital but was spotted by police a short time later and arrested, according to police.
Labossiere was to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court, police said.
