Police: Fake Cop Robbed & Sexually Assaulted Woman In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Queens are asking the public to help find an alleged police impersonator and an accomplice.

Authorities said that on November 20 around 10:30 p.m., a van occupied by 4 people approached a female victim who was posting flyers in the 109 Precinct.

One of the individuals in the van showed the victim a business card with a police logo and told her it was illegal to post flyers. The suspect, police said, asked the woman for her ID.

When she couldn't produce one, the suspect had the victim get into the van and drove her to her residence. Also inside the van were a man and woman, who the suspect identified as being under arrest, police said.

The suspect then accompanied the female victim to her apartment, where she showed him identification. After taking it, the suspect forced the victim to disrobe at which time the suspect sexually assaulted the victim and exposed himself to her, police said.

The victim was able to flee to her neighbor's apartment and the suspect fled the scene with the victim's laptop and house keys.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity and whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 273637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.

All calls are strictly confidential.
