Police: Drugs, Weapons, Explosives Found In Franklin Square Home

FRANKLIN SQUARE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police discovered guns, drugs and explosives at a home in Franklin Square after officers arrested two men in connection with an apparent drug deal Tuesday, Nassau County police said.

Gabriel Dipierno, 26, was arrested Tuesday after he was seen selling six glassine envelopes of what appeared to be heroin to 28-year-old Kenneth J. Butler II, police said.

Officers found dozens of prescription drugs, including Klonopin, Valium and Clonazepam pills, and additional glassine envelopes believed to be heroin, inside Dipierno's car, police said.

Police later searched Dipierno's home where they found over $100,000 worth of drugs, including steroids that were imported from Mexico, heroin, marijuana and more prescription drugs, Sgt. Pat Ryder said.

Officers also discovered six assault rifles, two .12-gauge pump shotguns, assorted magazines and ammunition, bomb-making materials, and more than $7,000 in cash, police said.

"He had home-making material -- enough material that if set correctly and detonated would've blown off the top of that house," Ryder said. "All of that material was taken by our bomb squad in a controlled environment."

Ryder said Dipierno lived with his parents and all of the drugs and weapons were found in his bedroom.

Dipierno faces several charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

Butler is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
