Police: Detectives Find Makeshift Heroin Mill In Basement Of Elmont Home
ELMONT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Four people were arrested on drug charges Tuesday night by detectives conducting an undercover operation in Elmont.
The suspects are identified as Steven Croce, 29, of Franklin Square and three Elmont residents: Aimee Slate, 25; Pietro Ciampa, 28; and Richard Cincotta, 28.
The arrests led to the discovery of a makeshift heroin mill operating out of the basement of Cincotta's home on 237th Street, police said. Detectives found cocaine, as well as scales, cutting agents and packing materials for heroin in the home, police said.

Neighbors were relieved to hear about the arrests.
"When you see people coming and going you know something not right is happening there," next door neighbor Almerinda Caputo told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera. "There's been hanky panky going on there for quite some time. That young man unfortunately has been involved with drugs, selling and what not."
Croce, Slate and Cincotta are accused of selling heroin. Ciampa was in possession of five methadone tablets at the time of his arrest, according to court papers.
The suspects face criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance charges.
They will be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
