Police say the masked and armed intruders broke into the home at 17 Autumn Court in the Northford section of town at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday and fled hours later in the family's pickup truck, which was found abandoned across town. Authorities haven't located the suspects.
Tom Martone told WTIC-TV that the victims were his mother, father, sister and his 3-year-old son. Martone, who lives next door, says the suspects made off with a shotgun, liquor, homemade wine and tomato sauce after unsuccessfully trying to get his father to open a safe.
The victims called 911 at about 3 a.m. Monday.
