SOUTH FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Saturday were searching for a Long Island man who allegedly stabbed his father, and then stole a neighbor's sport-utility vehicle.

As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, authorities in South Farmingdale said it all began when Eric Georgoulakos allegedly stabbed his father several times – including in the head – after the two got into a quarrel.

The 23-year-old suspect allegedly ran from his father's home to a neighbor's house on Grant Street. He convinced the neighbor, detectives said, to let him inside to use the bathroom.

But once inside, he stole the neighbors' keys, went outside, and drove off in the neighbors' Chevrolet SUV, police alleged.

Georgoulakos' father was rushed to an area hospital and treated for stab wounds, police said.

Georgoulakos remained on the loose as of Saturday morning, police said.
