Police: Boy, 8, Struck And Killed By Tractor-Trailer In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A third grader was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer Friday morning while walking to school with his sister in Queens.
It happened just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of Northern Boulevard and 61st Street in Woodside.

Noshat Nahian, 8, was walking with his 11-year-old sister about a block from his school, P.S. 152, when he was struck by the tractor-trailer, police said.
The truck was making a left turn onto the boulevard when its rear tires hit the boy, police said. Witnesses told CBS 2's Amy Dardashtian Nahian was in the middle of the crosswalk.
Other witnesses told CBS 2's Lou Young that Nahian had his hood up and wasn't paying attention to traffic when he stepped into the intersection.
"The truck was already making it's turn, he was already half-way inside, but the child was wearing a hood and looking down," one witness told Young.

His sister ran home to get their parents, while two women who work at the school tried to help him, witnesses said. Nahian was taken to the Elmhurst Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead, Young reported.
Many who live and work nearby say it is a dangerous intersection.
"I don't know why they don't have a crossing guard at that light," one man told WCBS 880's Jim Smith.
"A lot of trucks, a lot of traffic, a lot of speeding up and down these blocks," another man told 1010 WINS' Al Jones. "It's dangerous. This road is very dangerous."
The truck driver, Mauricio Osorio-Palominos, 51, was driving with a suspended license, police said. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle in violation of safety rules.
The Department of Education has sent crisis counselors to the school.
