Police: BMW Driver Fatally Strikes Bicyclist, 2 Cars In Brooklyn
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are on the hunt for a driver who fatally struck a bicyclist and then slammed into two cars before fleeing the scene in Brooklyn Wednesday morning.
According to authorities, the 46-year-old bicyclist was struck by a 2014 BMW at the intersection of Broadway and Halsey Street in Bushwick just before 8 a.m.
The driver of the BMW, an unknown male, then struck an unoccupied parked car and proceeded to make a right turn on to Thomas Boyland Street.
The driver then struck a 2000 Toyota 4-Runner pulling out of a driveway near the intersection of Thomas Boyland and Chauncey streets, police said.
According to officials, the man then got out of the BMW and fled the scene on foot.
The bicyclist suffered severe head and body trauma, police said. He was rushed to Woodhull Medical Center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
EMS also transported the occupants of the Toyota 4-Runner to Woodhull in stable condition, police said.
Police have not identified the bicyclist, pending family notification.
