Police Arrest Suspect In Fatal Yorktown Hit-And-Run
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police said they have a suspect in custody in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Westchester County.
Georgia Turner, 73, was fatally struck near the driveway of her home on East Main Street in the Jefferson Valley section of Yorktown Thursday evening.
Police believe she had just returned home from work when she was hit.
Turner had parked her Ford Explorer on East Main Street some distance from her home which has a steep, icy driveway, CBS 2's John Slattery previously reported.
"Was walking up the street and had made it to the mouth of her driveway when she was struck by a vehicle and ultimately killed," Yorktown Police Lt. Robert Noble said.
Police said the suspect was pulled over in Yorktown Friday night after two officers noticed damage to his car, CBS 2 reported.
The man has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a fatality.
According to acquaintances, Turner, who lived alone, had raised several sons. She also worked for a number of years at a pet supply store, Feed Barn, in Mahopac.
