Police Arrest Stuart Cato In Botanic Garden Subway Station Groping
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested a suspect accused of following a woman off a subway train and groping her.
Authorities announced the arrest of 39-year-old Stuart Cato, of Queens, on Friday night. Cato has been charged with forcible touching, harassment and sexual abuse.
Those charges come after an incident Wednesday in which Cato is accused making obscene gestures toward a 24-year-old woman on board a (S) train shuttle at Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights. He is also accused of later following the woman as she exited the train at the Botanic Garden stop and forcibly grabbing her buttocks as she climbed the stairs to exit the train.
Before the woman exited the train, she was able to take his photo with her cell phone. Police say they have not connected the attack to the Brooklyn serial groper.
"They need a task force to really, really come out here and detectives get on their job. Do what they gotta do. They can catch 'em," Vic Stephens, of Crown Heights, said Thursday night.
