NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A naked man wielding a 10-inch kitchen knife was arrested and charged with murder after he knocked on several doors at a Manhattan apartment building where he lives and then stabbed the people who answered, police said.

Callers to 911 emergency lines reported Falero was on the loose at the Riverside Drive building just after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say 81-year-old Ignacio Reyes-Collazo was killed. Three women, ages 60 to 85, were stabbed and a 22-year-old woman was punched in the Washington Heights building.

Police said after the stabbing spree Falero ran outside screaming about the end of the world and officers arrived he was on the ground carving himself up with the knife.

Falero's fifth-floor neighbor, Ramon Acosta, 41, said he always seemed likable. Acosta came home from work Tuesday to find police outside the building and the Falero's mother in tears.

Acosta said he has known the young man for 10 years and never had a problem with him.

"I guess he just flipped," he said.
