2 Bronx Children Found Safe After AMBER Alert; Police Search For Suspect
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A man fired a shot at the mother of his two children, carjacked a driver in the Bronx and fled with the youngsters -- prompting an AMBER Alert Sunday.
The alert was issued at 8:50 a.m. Sunday for two children in the Bronx who were abducted from their home near Barker and Adee avenues following the dispute, police said.

Police said the suspect, Fitz Edwards, 29, and the 26-year-old mother of the two young children got into an argument this morning. Edwards then allegedly fired one shot at her, which missed, before taking off with the kids, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported.
According to police, Nahzir Edwards, 5, and Mlyliah Edwards, 2, were abducted at about 4 a.m. on Sunday.

To escape with the children, police said Edwards walked about three blocks to Magenta Street and Bronx Boulevard and carjacked a gray 2005 Honda Accord at gunpoint. The driver was not injured.
The carjacking and escape prompted the AMBER Alert.
The alert was canceled just after noon on Sunday when the kids were found safe in a car near 128th Street and Park Avenue in Harlem. Police continue to search for Edwards.
A witness said he heard the early morning commotion.
"We heard a bang and we thought something fell and we heard someone walking down the steps with a child crying," a downstairs neighbor told D'Auria.
