Police: 7-Eleven Worker Slashed, Stabbed During Attempted Robbery On L.I.
WANTAGH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Two men have been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery on Long Island.
The incident happened at a 7-Eleven on Park Avenue in Wantagh around 5:10 a.m. Sunday.
Police said a 69-year-old employee stepped outside to shake out a rug when he was approached by two men.
One of the suspects, 25-year-old Shamar Parker, was armed with a knife and the other suspect, 23-year-old Elijah Coleman, was armed with a bat, police said.
When the worker refused their demands to enter the store, police said Parker stabbed the victim under the chin and slashed him across the face.
The two men fled, but were arrested a short time later.
The victim was treated at a hospital and released.
Parker and Coleman are charged with attempted robbery, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
They were expected to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
