Police: 3 Arrested After Attempted Carjacking At NJ Mall
ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) -- Charges are pending against two men and a woman allegedly involved in a failed attempt to carjack a woman and her two children at a mall in northern New Jersey.
Port Authority Police spokesman Al Della Fave says the woman told authorities she drove off after one man fired at least two shots during the carjacking bid, which occurred around 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth.
The woman sped off and soon saw a Port Authority police officer. She reported the incident to him, and within 30 minutes authorities had stopped a vehicle being driven by the female suspect.
Della Fave says the three suspects were arrested without incident by Port Authority and Elizabeth police. He says officers later found a loaded handgun in the suspects' car.
