Police: 2 Teens Charged In Connection With String Of L.I. Burglaries
ROSEDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Two teenagers from New York City have been arrested following a string of burglaries on Long Island.
Onyx Arroyo, 18 of Queens and Omar Allen, 17, of the Bronx are accused of breaking into a home on Roeckel Avenue in Valley Stream on Monday afternoon.
Police said the 46-year-old homeowner saw the duo on her front porch after they rang the doorbell around 1:15 p.m.
The suspects then rang the side doorbell, but when the homeowner got to the door the suspects were not in sight, police said.
The homeowner then heard a loud noise in the back of the house and when she walked into her bedroom she saw Arroyo fleeing out the window empty-handed, police said.
The homeowner called 911 and the suspects were arrested a short time later in Rosedale.
Police said they've linked Arroyo to six other break-ins in Valley Stream and North Woodmere between May 31 and June 24.
Allen was involved in at least one other burglary with Arroyo in Valley Stream, police said.
Arroyo is charged with second-degree attempted burglary and six counts of second-degree burglary. Allen is charged with two counts of second-degree attempted burglary.
