Police: 2 Pedestrians Killed In Clifton Hit-And-Run
CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities are hunting for a hit-and-run driver who they say killed two pedestrians as they attempted to cross a highway in northern New Jersey.
The accident occurred just before 4 a.m. Saturday on Route 46 in Clifton.
The victims were identified only as a 29-year-old Passaic woman and a 36-year-old Brooklyn man. Details on their injuries were not immediately disclosed and both were pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after the crash occurred.
Authorities were trying to determine why the two were in the area and where they may have been headed when they were struck. A witness saw the accident, but could provide little detail on the car, which quickly fled the scene.
No other injuries were reported in the accident.
