Police: 12 Victims Bilked In Long Island City Apartment Scheme Involving Craigslist
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is looking for a suspect wanted in an alleged apartment scheme in Queens.
Authorities are asking for the public's help in tracking down Peter Kim, also known as Michael Hong. He allegedly tried to rent an apartment at 43-01 46th St. in Long Island City to 12 people, but did not have the permission or authority to do so.
Police said that all 12 victims, who heard about the apartment through a Craigslist ad, were told they could move in on March 1. The 12 met with Kim at some point between Feb. 22 and March 1 and each of them apparently handed over a deposit.
Kim, 31, is approximately 5-foot-8 and 130 to 150 pounds.
