Point Pleasant Beach Rolls Back Closing Time At Bars

The borough council in Point Pleasant Beach approved an ordinance on Tuesday night to have bars close at midnight starting July 1.

The measure is in response to residents' complaints about noise and property damage caused by rowdy bar patrons.
Along the Jersey Shore, there's a delicate balance between meeting the needs of both residents and businesses.
"It's good and bad," resident John Pausey said of the ordinance. "It's bad for the business people and it's good for the people that live here."
The town postponed a separate measure that would allow bars to stay open until 2 a.m. if they pay an extra fee aimed at funding additional police patrols. The final votes on that ordinance are set for June 12.
