Future Of Playland's Funding Up In The Air As Park Keeps Losing Money
RYE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - For Westchester County, losing $3 to $5 million a year on Rye Playland is no longer going to be an option, according to County Executive Rob Astorino.

The latest numbers suggest the losses will continue this summer.
Attendance this July was off by about 5 percent from last year, according to numbers the parks department reported to the County Board of Legislators.
But the board rejected Astorino's veto of a children's museum at Playland.
A panel has narrowed proposals for the future of Playland from about a dozen to three and the county is negotiating with companies that are looking to operate the Rye landmark.
"In the broad sense of a park, we can do a lot of things creatively, and use our imagination, bringing in some private companies to work with the county, and make some money, and I think that's going to be a win, win for the taxpayer, and for the patron that goes to Playland," Astorino told Murnane.
A decision on the park's future is expected by mid-September.
