Play Fight Between Friends Ends In Stabbing Death
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A wrestling match between two friends ended in tragedy. Marcquel McDuffy was found bleeding to death in the stairwell of a building in Fort Greene on Friday night.
Through tears the victim's brother Kenneth McDuffy told the Daily News that he had no reason to believe that there was any animosity between Marcquel and the suspect .
"They were drinking together and then he took out a knife and stabbed him, they had no beef before then," he said.
The search continues for the suspect who ran from the Farragut Houses following the altercation which took place around 9:30. The alleged assailant's name is being withheld.
McDuffy and his killer spent the afternoon and evening watching TV and drinking, according to police.
"They were hanging out, joking around," said police.
Eventually the joking turned to wrestling and the wrestling ended with a stabbing. Police say that the suspect drew a knife and stabbed the victim in the head and neck.
McDuffy stumbled out of the apartment and collapsed in a stairwell, according to police. He was taken to a Brooklyn Hospital but nothing could be done to save him.
McDuffy had been attending a music production school and had dreamt of a career in hip-hop, his brother told the Daily news.
"He had so much potential, I will miss him. I love him," said Kenneth. "He was a good kid, he had plans, he was going to do something with his life."
