Plane With Smoke In Cabin Returns To Newark Airport
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Continental Airlines says a cross-country flight from Newark, N.J., had to return there a few minutes after taking off when smoke was reported in the plane's cabin.
Flight 1626 was bound for San Diego when it took off Wednesday morning from Newark Liberty International Airport. It returned about 15 minutes later.
A spokeswoman for the Chicago-based airline says the smoke was caused by de-icing fluid that seeped into an engine.
The plane landed safely. The passengers were put on another plane.
