Baby Found Safe After Philadelphia Area Alleged Kidnapping; Woman Arrested
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (CBSNewYork/CBS Philly/AP) -- A baby boy was found safe late Thursday after a woman allegedly kidnapped him from an upscale shopping mall outside Philadelphia, and the woman was in custody.
Upper Merion Township police said 7-week-old Ahsir Simmons had been abducted by a stranger Thursday evening at the King of Prussia Mall. An AMBER Alert had been issued following the incident.
Police say a woman befriended the boy's family at the mall, and they sat down together in the food court. When the baby became fussy, police say the woman asked if she could hold him.
The mother gave her permission to do so while she took a phone call and dealt with other children in her care. That's when police say the woman walked away with the baby.
