Petition To Be Filed Over Bergen County's Blue Laws
PARAMUS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Some Bergen County residents have petitioned for a vote on whether to repeal the Sunday retail sale restrictions.
The county's so-called Blue Laws ban most Sunday retail sales except for food and gas.
"People can't live like this anymore," Amy Margolin with the group Modernize Bergen County told WCBS 880's Levon Putney.

She said they've collected enough signatures to put the issue to a vote as a ballot initiative in November.
"We need to accommodate working families. Their schedules don't jive with having Saturday the only day of the week to do it," Margolin said. "Being prepared is having your stores open seven days a week so that you can get the things that you need to take care of your life."
Margolin added businesses should have the right to make more profit by being open all week. Paramus is a major shopping destination in the county.
Repeal attempts have fallen short in the past, with proponents of the Blue Laws saying they keep the typically congested highways clear.
The group will turn in the signatures on Friday.
