Pet Treat Distributed In NJ Stores Recalled Due To Possible Salmonella Contamination
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A pet treat that is distributed in stores in New Jersey has been recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination.
Carolina Prime Pet, Inc., is voluntarily recalling 5-count packages of Priority Total Pet Care All Natural Bullstrips after Salmonella was detected during testing by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Lot codes are located on a sticker on the back of each bag.
The products that are under the recall have been in distribution since Sept. 1.

No illnesses have been reported.
Dogs affected with Salmonella may display symptoms including lethargy, drinking unusual amounts of water and diarrhea.
Humans can contract Salmonella by handling the contaminated product or infected pets.
If your pet has eaten the treat involved in the recall, the Food and Drug Administration urges you to contact your veterinarian.
Priority Total Pet Care All Natural Bullstrips are sold in Safeway stores in Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, South Dakota, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Wyoming as well as Vons, Pavilions and Pak N Save stores in California; Randalls and Tom Thumb stores in Texas; Genuardis stores in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and Dominicks stores in Illinois.
Customers who purchased the recalled dog treats should discontinue use immediately, and return items to the purchase location for replacement, refund, or discard.
