Fighter With Breast Implants Cleared For UFC 210
BUFFALO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Pearl Gonzalez, whose breast implants became a major story in the MMA world Friday, can fight after all.
The fighter has been cleared to compete at UFC 210 in Buffalo on Saturday. Earlier Friday, reports surfaced saying her bout was being removed from the card because of her implants.

The New York State Athletic Commission has a rule stating that "due to the concern over rupture, boxers who have breast implants are not eligible to box in New York."
But the commission released statements to multiple media outlets Friday afternoon saying: "After careful consideration and review, including a conversation with Pearl Gonzalez's treating physician, the Commission has determined that Ms. Gonzalez is medically cleared to participate in the UFC 210 event in Buffalo, NY."
Gonzalez is scheduled to face Cynthia Calvillo in a strawweight fight at the KeyBank Center.
MMAFighting.com reported that the NYSAC informed Gonzalez of its decision to cancel her fight after her weigh-in Friday and that the commission reversed its ruling after Gonzalez's team provided medical documentation later in the day.
The commission insisted it never decided to remove Gonzalez from the card but said it did launch a review based on information presented during the weigh-in.
The 30-year-old Gonzalez is slated to make her UFC debut after competing on the regional circuit, where she had won six straight fights.
The controversy over the fight wasn't the only bizarre news to come out of Friday's weigh-ins. Light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier weighed in at 206.2 pounds, above the 205-pound limit. He, however, was weighed again about two minutes later and came in at 205 pounds. Fighters normally don't get a second chance at weigh-ins, but the NYSAC has a policy that makes an exception for title fights.
Cormier's bout against Anthony Johnson is the headline event at UFC 210.
