Patriots' Tom Brady Sets Record With 16 Straight Completions In Super Bowl
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is having a Super Bowl for the ages.
With 13:22 remaining in the third quarter, Brady hit Wes Welker for his 14th consecutive completion, breaking Joe Montana's previous Super Bowl record of 13 straight set in 1990.
Brady completed the drive with two additional completions, No. 16 going for a touchdown to tight end Aaron Hernandez.
That gave New England a 17-9 lead over the Giants with 11:20 left in the third quarter.

Brady threw an incomplete pass with 6:12 to go in the third to end the streak at 16.
He also broke the record for most passing yards in Super Bowl history, a mark previously owned by Kurt Warner with 1,156.
But it wasn't enough. The Giants beat Brady & Co., 21-17, behind a fourth quarter drive by quarterback Eli Manning.
Former Giants quarterback Phil Simms recorded 10 completions in a row during Super Bowl XXI against the Denver Broncos. Simms was 22 for 25 for 268 yards and three touchdowns in the Giants' 39-20 win, largely considered the greatest performance by a quarterback in Super Bowl history.
