Partial PATH Service Resumes At Hoboken Station; NJT Discontinuing Ferry Service
HOBOKEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - After about six weeks, there is light at the end of the tunnel for residents of the "Mile Square City."

PATH service resumed on the Hoboken to 33rd Street line Wednesday at 5 a.m. and will be in service until 10 p.m. seven days a week.
While that is not the 24-hour service they had been used to and there is no service to the World Trade Center, commuters are overjoyed to have the trains back.
Since superstorm Sandy flooded the station with over 10 million gallons of water, commuters have had to use ferries and buses to get across the Hudson River.
"A little inconvenient. You have to do what you do. We're New Yorkers. We handle it. We handle it day by day. A little inconvenient, but others had it a little more tough than we do," said rider Kevin Higgins.

Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer wants to remind people that her city is open for business.
"We invite everyone back to rediscover Hoboken," she told WCBS 880 reporter Peter Haskell on Wednesday.
She also had a big thank you for PATH workers.
"They've done, you know, what should have, you know, what might have taken six months they've done in just, you know, about six weeks. So, we really appreciate it," she said.
Zimmer says some businesses have been down 60 percent and hopes the restoration of PATH service will be a big boost.
NJ TRANSIT had been operating a ferry service from Hoboken Terminal to Pier 79 (39th Street) in Midtown Manhattan, but that will be discontinued effective Friday, December 21 at 8 p.m.
There is still no word on when 24-hour or Hoboken to World Trade Center service will resume, but those who need to get to Lower Manhattan can take the PATH to Christopher Street, 9th Street, or 33rd Street and then transfer to the New York City Subway.
The Journal Square to 33rd Street line has already been running weekday service as has the Newark to World Trade Center line.

On weekends, there is still no service to the World Trade Center.
The PATH, or Port Authority Trans-Hudson, rail system is run by the Port Authority.
