Part Of The Hudson Safe For Swimmers After Sewer Main Break In Ossining

OSSINING, NY (CBS 2) -- Part of the Hudson River that was closed to swimmers because of a sewage spill has been reopened. 
  
A fallen tree that crushed a sewer main near Ossining on Thursday caused the spill. An estimated 1.5 million gallons of sewage was discharging into Killbrook Creek which is about a quarter-mile from the Hudson.

Now, the Westchester County Department of Health says swimmers can resume direct contact with the water south of Sleepy Hollow. But officials say Westchester waters north of there are still off-limits. 

They say Philipse Manor Beach can reopen but Croton Point Park Beach must remain closed.
