Police Search For Suspect Who Allegedly Tried To Rape Woman In Park Slope

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Tuesday for a suspect who tried to rape a woman in Park Slope, Brooklyn this past weekend.

Around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, the suspect walked up to the 21-year-old woman on 2nd Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues, police said. He touched her genitals over her underwear, and then pushed her to the ground, pulled off her underwear, and tried to rape her, police said.

The woman fought off the suspect and yelled for help, police said.

The suspect ran into a dark-colored four-door Acura and fled west on 2nd Street, police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic or Indian male standing 20 to 25 years old, standing 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing 170 to 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing light-colored shorts and a light-colored short, police said.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect and a photo of the suspected getaway vehicle.
