NJ Bank Robbery Suspect Linked To 4 Other Heists
PARAMUS, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- The FBI is investigating an armed robbery at a Capital One Bank in New Jersey that took place early Wednesday.
Authorities also believe the suspect may be linked to four other robberies in the state.
Around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, the FBI said a male suspect hit the Capital One branch at 464 Route 17 North in Paramus. The robber walked into the bank, displayed a demand note to the teller, who gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect slipped the cash into a small, green zippered bag.
Authorities said the suspect then pulled out a black handgun and demanded money from another teller -- which he was given. The suspect put the additional money in his green bag, slipped it into a larger blue one and fled the scene heading north.
The Paramus Police Department along with the Bergen County Sheriff's Office BCI Unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigation and processing of the scene.
The suspect is described as a 5'5'' black male in his late 30's with an average build. He was last seen wearing black sunglasses, a green New York Yankees hat and a yellow and green checkered shirt with black pants.
The FBI said the suspect's description also matches that of other robberies in New Jersey -- including Capital One Banks in Marlboro and Hasbrouck Heights in 2009 as well as a robbery of a TD Bank in Howell on August 6.
Authorities said they were still working on obtaining a photo of the suspect from Wednesday's robbery.
