Search Continues For Suspects In Violent Ozone Park Attacks
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are on the hunt for three men believed to be behind a string of violent robberies in Queens.
At least two people were attacked, beaten with a rock, and then robbed.
A surveillance camera captured the terrifying moment when a 32-year-old immigrant from Nepal was viciously attacked and robbed in Queens as he walked home from work just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday night.
Prajwal Sujakhu, 32, said he didn't see the hooded attacked coming up from behind him when he was walking home on 77th Street and Liberty Avenue, CBS2's Magdalena Doris reported. The attacker, wielding a rock, sent Sujakhu tumbling to the ground.
"I didn't see nothing. It's like they hit in the front, so I was unconscious," he said.
Sujakhu is left with broken bones, stitches and bruises.
"The victim just he tell me, 'Help me, help me,'" witness Giash Uddin, who called police, told CBS2's Steve Langford.
According to police, the three suspects seen in the video have developed a pattern. The suspects will target victims near subway stops and approach them from behind before beating and robbing them.
On April 16, a 25-year-old victim was also targeted near Glenmore Avenue and 76th Street -- about a block away from last weekend's attack. The suspects made away with with victim's wallet and cellphone.
The recent string of robberies has Ozone Park residents reevaluating their security.
"We have to stop being on the phone right now. We have to pay more attention, to watch, see something coming from behind us," Zakaria Ali said.
The NYPD describes the suspects as three men in their late teens or early twenties. They were last seen wearing dark-colored hoodies.
