Oversized Truck Hits Williamsburg Bridge, Snarls Traffic

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- All lanes have been reopened after a truck that was apparently too tall for the Williamsburg Bridge caused a traffic nightmare in the midst of Thursday evening's rush hour.

As CBS 2's Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2, the traffic trouble was located on the outer roadway of the Brooklyn-bound side of the bridge.

Check Traffic Conditions

Debris from the truck could be seen scattered across the lanes.

The truck was moved off of the bridge but all lanes of the outer roadway remained closed for some time so that crews could remove the debris.

Delancey Street was backed up almost from the Hudson River all the way over to the East River with gridlock conditions just as rush hour kicked into high gear, Biermann reported.

All lanes have since been reopened and traffic has eased in the vicinity.
