Other States' Givebacks Could Mean More Money For NY High-Speed Rail
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - Due to the economy, a number of states have been sending back their federal funds for a high-speed rail, not wanting to match those funds with state money.

Now, New York City U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney says House Transportation Committee John Mica may be sending that funding our way.
"He announced that any additional money that was recommitted would go to the Northeast Corridor and he said, like many of us believe, that the Northeast Corridor is the place where we're going to build this high-speed rail and make it work," Maloney told WCBS 880's Rich Lamb. "Unlike many governors in our county, Gov. Cuomo has embraced high-speed rail and he's literally led on it. When other governors. were turning back the money, he was saying New York is ready and we are willing and we'll go to work quickly to build high-speed rail."
She says Mica would like to see it built in 10 to 15 years.
